PROJECT TRANSFORM LAUNCHED IN BATAAN. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) launches Project TRANSFORM or Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities in the province of Bataan at the Bataan People's Center in Balanga City today, May 9. Three municipalities were selected to be pilot areas, namely, Orion, Limay and Mariveles.

Guided by DENR Secretary Antonia Loyzaga’s directive to engage the whole of society in the Department’s mission, Project TRANSFORM aims to put together all the best practices from both government and private sectors to deliver an inclusive, science-based, and data-driven template that all stakeholders, partners, and local government units can use in fighting the accelerating climate emergency.

The Environment Secretary, Department of Agrarian Reform, Philippines Secretary Conrado Estrella III and Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III delivered messages during the event.

This project is a joint undertaking of the DENR, National Resilience Council, Peace and Equity Foundation, PBSP, Energy Development Corporation, Zuellig Family Foundation, and the Provincial Government of Bataan.

Other pilot areas for Project TRANSFORM are Ormoc City and Siargao. This is an offshoot of one of the panel sessions during the DENR Multistakeholder Forum. (-30-)
