DENR PLANTS 5,000 PROPAGULES IN CL FOR WORLD BAMBOO DAY. Over a thousand state workers, youth, volunteers, and representatives from private companies joined the rest of the nation for a simultaneous bamboo and tree-growing activity in celebration of the World Bamboo Day and the birth date of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Thirty hectares of forestlands were planted with over 1,000 bamboo propagules and indigenous tree seedlings.

Every 18th of September is being celebrated as the World Bamboo Day since 2019. This year, people around the world are being encouraged to propagate bamboo species as a way to mitigate climate change and to spread the message “#PlantBamboo” as a call to action across available platforms.

According to studies, there are currently 62 species of bamboo that may be found in the Philippines, 21 species of which are endemic to the country. (-30-)
