𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐑 𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐄𝐓𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. Elementary students from Batang 2nd Integrated School joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here in a mangrove planting activity aimed at preserving and protecting the wetlands of Sasmuan town.

The collaborative effort of the DENR here, the Provincial Government of Pampanga and the Municipal Government of Sasmuan led to the planting of 300 mangrove sapling that would not only enhance the biodiversity of coastal communities, but likewise foster a sense of environmental responsibility and stewardship among citizens, especially the youth.

Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo stressed the importance of the event in conserving wetlands and mangrove ecosystems, emphasizing their role in coastal protection, carbon sequestration, and providing habitat for diverse marine life.

"By planting mangroves, we are investing in the resilience of our coastal areas and contributing to the fight against climate change. This activity is our commitment to preserving our wetlands and securing a sustainable future for our communities," Pablo said.

The DENR has committed to monitoring and nurturing the newly planted mangroves to ensure their survival and growth.

Ongoing efforts include educational programs to inform communities about the benefits of mangroves and the importance of preserving wetlands for the well-being of both the environment and society. (-30-)
