ASEAN CONFERENCE ON MEDICINAL FOREST TREES. Researchers, experts and scientists from different ASEAN nations present their studies and findings during the first ASEAN Conference on Medicinal Forest Trees held by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau in Clark, Pampanga.


The studies presented center on four major themes, namely: Taxonomy and Ecology of Medicinal Forest Trees and Non-Timber Species inside the Forest; Roles and Importance of Biotechnology; Indigenous and Traditional Knowledge Systems; and Policy Studies on Medicinal Forest Trees and Non-timber Species inside the Forest.


The event aims to maximize the use of available traditional medicine and other herbal products in the ASEAN region. It is also being held in support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the Philippines’ vision 2040, "Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Buhay."

DENR CONDUCTS NATIONAL TRAINING ON CARRYING CAPACITY FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM. Personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and representatives from select protected areas participate in the nationwide training on carrying capacity determination for sustainable tourism.
 
The training provides personnel of the Conservation and Development Division-Protected Area Management and Biodiversity Conservation Section with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct carrying capacity assessments in ecotourism sites.
 
The first phase of this training centers on the introduction and computation of different components of carrying capacity assessment, while the second phase will cover the in-depth computation of limiting factors, preparation of survey tools for social, physical, and biodiversity, and data encoding and analysis.
 
Representatives from the DENR and Department of Tourism serve as resource persons for the training.
STATE WORKERS, INDUSTRIES TRAINED ON GHG ACCOUNTING. State workers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources here, local government units in Bataan, and representatives from the academe and private industries convened in a two-day workshop on community-level greenhouse gas inventory.
 
Organized by the Environmental Management Bureau – Region 3, the workshop aimed to identify communities’ significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions and establish a baseline data for emission reduction by quantifying the amount of greenhouse gas emissions from energy, transportation, waste management, and agriculture sectors.
 
Experts from the Climate Change Commission and Ako ang Bukas were subject matter experts on this learning activity held on July 13 to 14, 2023 in Clark, Pampanga.
STATE WORKERS PLANT TREES TO CONSERVE MOUNT ARAYAT. In celebration of the Philippine Environment Month, over a hundred state workers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here and partner agencies participated in a tree growing event in Mount Arayat Protected Landscape (MAPL) in Pampanga.
 
More than 1,200 indigenous and fruit-bearing trees, as well as bamboo propagules were planted in Barangay San Juan Baño in Arayat town through the DENR’s Enhanced National Greening Program.
 
The event was participated in by personnel from local governments units, Philippine Statistics Authority and 70th Infantry Battalion Delta Company. (-30-)
THE GREEN EXPO. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here is currently holding “The Green Expo,” as part of its month-long activities in celebration of the Philippine Environment Month.
 
The activity showcases green and local products resourced from the different peoples' organizations and businesses around Central Luzon.
 
The trade fair will run until June 14, 2023, at the DENR Regional Office Grounds, Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. (-30-)
