ENR BASIC COURSE. Twenty-seven employees of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here recently completed their seven-day Basic Course under the Environment and Natural Resources Academy (ENRA) training program.
 
The said training aimed to equip DENR employees with necessary knowledge and skills to perform their mandated duties and responsibilities.
 
As the country’s lead agency in ensuring the effective environmental governance of the Philippines’ environment and natural resources sector, the training centered on forestry, lands, environment, mines and geo-sciences, protected areas and wildlife, air and water management.
 
Fundamental environmental laws, as well as the Department’s programs and priority projects, were also elaborated to provide support to frontline officers in matching timely solutions and decisions to the dilemmas of their clients.
 
The ENRA training program is among the learning interventions of the DENR through its Human Resource Development Service (HRDS) designed to augment knowledge gaps, calibrate understanding of ENR laws, and sharpen the proficiencies of DENR employees to improve their delivery of service to the public. BIDA ANG LAGING HANDA. In support of the annual observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here organized a drill and a forum on fire safety facilitated by officers of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

BFP taught employees ways to orderly evacuate the office during a fire incident, and likewise discussed steps to properly operate fire extinguishers.

March is declared as Fire Prevention Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 115-A and Proclamation No. 360 in 1986. This year's theme, "Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa!" emphasizes the importance of public awareness in preventing fire and ensuring the safety of the community. (-30-)

AVIAN COUNT AND HEALTHY WETLANDS. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here took part in this year’s Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) in an effort to provide a basis for estimating waterbird populations, as well as in gauging the ecological health of important wetlands in Central Luzon.

This year, the DENR has observed sightings of whiskered tern, little egret, blacked-winged stilt, red-necked stint, and Philippine duck from the census conducted in notable wetland areas in the region.

AWC takes place every second and third week of January. It began in 1987, and now involves 26 countries in the Asian continent. (-30-)



DENR MARKS WWD WITH SASMUAN CLEANUP. The Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR) here marked the annual celebration of World Wetlands Day (2022) with a coastal cleanup activity in the famed Sasmuan Pampanga Coastal Wetland (SPCW) in Pampanga.

Aside from collecting more than 33 kilos of solid waste along the six coastal barangays within the SPCW, participants likewise took part in a birdwatching activity.

It may be recalled that in 2021 SPCW was recognized as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention. (-30-)

ISO CERTIFICATION GRANTED TO DENR C. LUZON. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here has received its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification for public administration activities in the field of conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources.
 
DENR Regional Executive Director Paquito Moreno, Jr. said the ISO 9001: 2015 certification marks the organization’s commitment to continuously advance public service delivery for the people of Central Luzon.
 
ISO 9001:2015 provides international standards to aid organizations in improving processes and services. It covers seven key areas that include context of the organization, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement.
 
This certification issued by SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. Operations Director Gilmore Rivera is valid until March 27, 2025.
 
It covers the regional office of the DENR, as well as its provincial and community offices. (-30-)
