STATE WORKERS, PARTNERS PLANT TREES TO CONSERVE C. LUZON FORESTLANDS. More than 1,400 state workers, volunteers and partners from private organizations joined the nationwide tree planting activity of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Central Luzon dubbed as “Buhayin ang Pangangalaga ng Kalikasan.”

 

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Executive Director Paquito Moreno, Jr. reported that 8,763 seedlings of narra, kupang, cashew, jackfruit, bignai, kawayang bayog, and kawayang tinik were planted in identified sites in the region that covered over 18 hectares.

 

These seedlings came from combined replacement seedlings and were produced from nurseries managed and sustained by the DENR provincial office in Pampanga and community offices in Dingalan, Aurora; Baliuag, Bulacan; Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Capas, Tarlac; and Olongapo, Zambales.

 

The executive director noted that the convergence of different national government agencies in this nationwide tree planting activity espoused collective action and multi-sectoral cooperation in protecting and conserving the environment.

“This embodies our collective effort and shared commitment to nurture our ecological wealth, particularly the 942,387 hectares of forestland areas of Central Luzon,” Moreno said.

 

The simultaneous tree planting event transpired in Arsenal, Limay, Bataan and New, Clark City River, Corridor Extension Area, Capas, Tarlac—two of the selected national planting sites in the country.

 

On the other hand, plantation areas of the Enhanced National Greening Program of the DENR in Diteki, San Luis, Aurora; Alangan, Limay, Bataan; Kabayunan, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan; Calaanan, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija; San Juan Baño, Arayat, Pampanga; Sula, San Jose, Tarlac; and San Rafael, San Marcelino, Zambales were among the activity’s provincial planting sites.
