EARTH DAY CLEANUP

EARTH DAY CLEANUP. Around 80 environmental workers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 3 participated in a solidarity walk and cleanup drive to show support and drumbeat the annual celebration of the Month of the Planet Earth.

 

The participants collected over 30 sacks of residual and plastic waste from the streets, parks and waterways within the Diosdado Macapagal Government Center in City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The said waste was properly disposed with the assistance of the local government unit of the said city.

 

In a message delivered during the event, DENR 3 Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Joselito Blanco urged everyone to take environmental actions that are significant and transformational to see tangible improvement in the environment.

 

April is the Month of Planet Earth by Proclamation No. 1482 series of 2008. The month-long celebration reiterates the need to scale up efforts in protecting and saving our planet from environmental degradation to ensure a sustainable future for all people.

 

This year’s theme, “Invest in our Planet,” calls for partnerships and engagements among stakeholders including governments, businesses and ordinary citizens to do their part and invest more time, money and resources in saving the environment. (-30-)
